Apart from Porsche, I am also a big fan of BMW.
Swissvax: “Selina, thank you for taking the time and giving us an insight. You’re quite a young mechanic. Was it a hard decision for you to choose this job?”
Selina: Hello, I’m really excited for the interview, so for me, it was always clear that I’d do what my dad does. When I was a child, if someone asked me, my answer was always “I’ll be a mechanic.” So no, it was very easy for me.
Swissvax: “Why did you choose to become a mechanic?”
Selina: During my school years, I did several internships – in very different fields, but nothing I liked 100%. Since my dad is my absolute role model, I decided to become a mechanic. At that time, I didn’t even know if I’d like it. Since I found my dad’s knowledge so fascinating, I just wanted to learn what he knows. And in the end, it worked out.
Swissvax: “How do men react when you explain to them what problems their classic car has and how you’re going to fix it?”
Selina: Honestly, I have very few problems or difficulties with this. The feedback from our customers has always been positive.
Swissvax: “When you were a child, did you prefer to play with cars or dolls?”
Selina: Definitely both... but I’ve always been a total Lego kid, especially Lego Technic. Dolls were of course also a classic part of it.
Swissvax: “You also occasionally drive on the race track. Is that right? What’s your favorite car on the track?”
Selina: Yes, I have been a co-driver in my father’s 991 Cup several times, but I’ve actually only driven once myself – it was at the Red Bull Ring during the Ventilspiel event. In Austria, I drove my 1984 Porsche G-model on the race track for the first time, and it still had the 3.2L engine in it at that time.
Swissvax: “What relationship do you have with your cars?”
Selina: Phew, that’s a tough question. My G-model is definitely something special for me, compared to my everyday car. When I see my classic car, I’m always grinning, thinking about everything I still want to do to make it just how I imagine. It’s still a long way to go, and I’m looking forward to it.
Swissvax: “Which car would you like to drive next and why?”
Selina: I have several models on my list. Porsche is right at the top, and the new GT3 RS and Taycan Turbo S are definitely on top.
Swissvax: “How does an electric car like the Taycan fit you?”
Selina: We are not standing still, and the modern technology of the Taycan fascinates me. The topic is controversial, and no one knows if electric cars are the future or not. Of course, it’s something completely different technically, no mechanics anymore, which is where I feel at home. But the pure power and acceleration really impress me. And for short distances, for example, going to the workshop and back – why not?
Swissvax: “Which car would you like to take completely apart and rebuild?”
Selina: Definitely a 930 Turbo. But first, my G-model is up. I’m currently building a completely new engine for it. It will be a 3.8L engine, I can already reveal that. Apart from the mechanics, the car will be completely dismantled, rebuilt, and repainted. It’s quite beaten up from the ice races, so it deserves a complete overhaul.
Swissvax: “Will the new engine have over 9,000 RPM?”
Selina: Who knows.
Swissvax: “You personally work a lot on air-cooled 911s. Are you also excited by vehicles from other manufacturers?”
Selina: Apart from Porsche, I’m also a BMW fan, and I’ve been driving an E90 as my daily for the past 3 years. The car has never let me down. My boyfriend also drives a BMW, an E36, which are just great to look at, super fun to drive, and especially a lot of fun in winter (laughs).
Swissvax: “Describe a typical drive. How does it feel to you, and what goes through your head?”
Selina: Because of my job, I don’t have much time for drives. Recently, I was a guest and co-driver with my friend Verena Proebst. She organizes her own rally, the FalkenhausenClassic, which I was able to attend. It was a great experience! You really feel like you’re back in those times. Every car has its own character, and you meet so many wonderful people.

Swissvax: “What do you personally associate with ‘Care for your Dream’?”
Selina: I’ve read this sentence from you many times, and I think it’s great. Everyone has their own dream in mind, and I think you should work on it every day to make it happen. And when the dream becomes a reality, you should continue to care for it and “dream.” My dream is my G-model and my profession as a mechanic, and I “care” for both of them every day.
Swissvax: “What’s been your most beautiful moment or experience with or in a Porsche?”
Selina: I think it was when I drove out of the pit at the Red Bull Ring during the Ventilspiel event and onto the track toward the starting line. I was incredibly excited and happy at the same time. I will never forget that; it was such a wonderful experience, and I will definitely go back.
Swissvax: “You’re currently restoring an old Porsche. Which one is it, and what do you personally associate with this car?”
Selina: It’s a 1984 G-model. Originally, it had a 3.2L engine, which is currently not in it. My dad imported it from Japan a few years ago and used it as an ice racing car at Lungauring. When the pandemic started, these races were canceled, and it stood in our hall. In the fall of 2020, I took it out of the hall and started tinkering with it. I installed a brake system from the 996 and optimized several other things.
Swissvax: “And what about Verena’s red Porsche? Isn’t that also a project of yours together?”
Selina: I was really happy that she entrusted me with her red 911. The car used to belong to her mother, and she has many memories attached to it. Together, we rebuilt the engine. It was an absolute “heart project” for me. Working with Verena is always so much fun.
Swissvax: “Maybe a tip from you: how do you get your nails clean and ready for the weekend?”
Selina: Super simple: scrub them with a tradesman brush and soap until they’re clean, but honestly, they usually break off during the week and aren’t very nice to look at. But I don’t really care about that.
